This is probably the best thing I’ve ever seen and played with that makes using a computer on stage interesting. This actually turns a computer into what an audience generally considers to be an “instrument”. Töken is engauging, simple to use and although it feels like it should be something from the future, its very much out there in the clubs already.
How it works? A group of enthusiasts created a device which makes a laptop and a controller look like an Atari 2600. And on top of it all, the Töken makes it possible for the audience to take a peek at what’s happening in the booth. How? Because the Töken is a glass touch sensitive plate used as a controller. Or as the makers call it: “a holographic screen with multitouch technology, built to enhance the DJ’s position as an MC”.
